An Ambush of Tigers

An Ambush of Tigers: A Wild Gathering of Collective Nouns
by Betsy Rosenthal, illustrated by Jago

Have you ever seen a pack of wolves have their suitcases packed for a trip , or a shiver of sharks wear hats and scarves to keep warm in the cold waters?  How about a sleuth of bears, garbed as detectives, investigating a murder of crows?   An Ambush of Tigers takes a variety of collective nouns used to describe animal groups, such as a leap of lizards, and couples rhyming text with whimsical illustrations to make an entertaining, yet educational, read.

I can see using this book as a read aloud with many different grades.  For the younger grades, the humorous illustrations will keep them engaged and laughing!  For slightly older groups, I can see using this as a read aloud followed by having them take an animal group name and creating their own illustration.  A fun book with so many possibilities!
