This Moose Belongs to Me

This Moose Belongs to Me
by Oliver Jeffers

Wilfred’s pet moose Marcel is mostly good at following the rules of being a good pet: he’s quiet, provides shelter in the rain, and knocks down things that Wilfred can’t reach. However, Wilfred learns that Marcel is also known as Rodrigo to an elderly woman who thinks that Marcel/Rodrigo is her moose! Will Wilfred accept that this moose may not belong to him after all?

I was drawn to this book for a couple reasons. First, I enjoy Oliver Jeffers work, particularly the comical, stick-legged style he uses to illustrate his characters. The other reason is the moose! Living in a state known for moose (it’s our state animal), I’m always excited to find a book to use in a local wildlife themed unit!

This was a very humorous book, complete with a stick-legged moose that steals the show! In addition to a local wildlife themed unit, this may also be a nice addition to a pet themed unit (what makes a good pet/what doesn’t).
