Go, Otto, Go!
by David Milgrim
Otto the robot misses his family, so he decides to build a spaceship so that he can go visit him! After working hard to make his new spaceship, he takes off! Will his spaceship get him home to his family?
What a cute book! This is part of “The Adventures of Otto” series, which follows Otto the robot and his various animal friends. I was unfamiliar with this series prior to Go, Otto, Go! being named a Geisel Honor book earlier this year. After reading it, I added the other books in the series to my summer book order list for my schools.
This book is a great choice for beginning readers. Using large font, each page only has a few words. There is a lot of repetitive text and the vocabulary is ideal for younger readers. The large, colorful illustrations are entertaining and engaging. This is a fun, humorous story that many young readers will enjoy practicing their reading skills with!
